China’s New Covid-19 Policy- Home Quarantine

China has unveiled new policy measures (December 7, 2022) to deal with the Covid-19 infections and effectively exit the pandemic.

One important feature of the new policy is “Home Quarantine” or “Quarantine at Home” or “Isolate at Home”.

How to say Home Quarantine in Mandarin Chinese?

The official statement by the Chinese government uses the term “新冠居家康复手册” (Xīnguān jūjiā kāngfù shǒucè).

Let’s learn this very crucial feature of the new policy.

• 新冠 (Xīn guān): Novel coronavirus
• 居家 (jū jiā): Be at home; live at home
• 康复 (kāng fù): Recover; get well; recovery; recuperate
• 手册 (shǒu cè): Guide; handbook; manual

• 新冠居家康复手册  (Xīnguān jūjiā kāngfù shǒucè)– Manual to Recuperate at Home from Covid-19; COVID-19 Home Quarantine Handbook.

To say “Home Quarantine”, you can just say Ju Jia Kang Fu (居家康复).

Another way, and more precise term, to say home quarantine is Ju Jia Ge Li (居家隔离).

• 隔离 (ɡé lí): Isolate
