How to say kids in Chinese?
There are numerous ways to say kids in Chinese.
A very common term is Xiao Peng You:
- 小朋友 (xiǎo péng yǒu): Children; little boy (girl)
Xiao Peng You can refer to both girls or boys.

If there are lots of kids, you can refer to them as Xiao Peng You Men (小朋友们).
Another term worth knowing is Xiao Hai (小孩).
- 小孩 (xiǎo hái): Child; kid (both girls and boy)
There is a subtle difference between Xiao Peng You and Xiao Hai. Both Xiao Hai and Xiao Peng You refer to the kids who are up to 5-6 years old. With that being said, even if you are a 50-year-old adult, you are Xiao Hai of your parents, however, you are no longer a Xiao Peng You. 🙂
